Welcome to Jim Jam

Situated on the banks of the Murray River, the Jim Jam Simmental Stud was established on the 17th May,1976. The stud is still operating on the Jim Jam property which is situated approximately 80 kilometers south of Perth on Pinjarra Road at Ravenswood, midway between Mandurah and Pinjarra.

The first pure bred Simmentals were born on the property in 1977. Since that time, we have consistently selected traditional Simmentals that are structurally correct with good temperament, easy calving with a good milk supply. We have avoided some of the fads which have crept into the breed from time to time, instead concentrating on fast growing animals with good muscling to maximise the return to the commercial cattle man. We do not force feed our bulls and they are grass fed so they are ready to go out into the paddock to work.

An Artififial Insemination Program was undertaken in 2023 and 2024 using semen purchased Kerrah G732 an exceptional bull purchased by Woonalee Stud (SA), Woonalee Jet Steam, Kerrah Defender and Lucrana Radar (Pictures below).

We have combined the use our own Sire Jim Jam Supreme as a cover bull who has produced an excellent lot of calves (picture below), and will continue to use him this year. We now have an excellent mix of different quality bloodlines in our Breeding Stock and Sires for future generations.

May 2022 – Artificial Insemination program

The most recent AI (Artificial Insemination) program over the existing herd was conducted using semen from Woonallee Jetstream. Following the AI program, our own sire Jim Jam Poseidon – a homozygous bull from a Wallandra Sire – was also introduced to the herd later in the month. Both sires are polled and possess the qualities we desire.

February 2021 – Embryo Program

This year, an embryo program was conducted with our outstanding female, Jim Jam Brenda. She was approaching 16 years old and we wanted to maximise her influence on the herd. Semen from the following bulls was used in the embryo program

• Glen Anthony Y-Arta
• Kerrah Defender

From this program, we have produced 6 bulls and 8 females. These bulls will be available for sale as 2-year olds from November 2023. For more information about our upcoming bull sales, please refer to our Bulls for Sale page.
